Skipton Sweetie Skedaddle – Leeds & Liverpool Canal Running Event
This event is licensed by the Trail Running Association and run under UK Athletics rules. Run the beautiful Leeds and Liverpool Canal with the Skipton Sweetie Skedaddle! Choose from 10K, 10 Mile, Half Marathon, 20 Mile or Marathon distances — all along the flat, fast and scenic canal towpath. Whether you’re a beginner looking for your first race or a seasoned ultra runner chasing a PB, this race is for you. And yes — expect plenty of sweets, chocolate and cake at the finish!
Location
Aireville Park, Skipton, North Yorkshire. Just a short walk from Skipton Train Station. What3Words: parading.superbly.dentures. Perfect for runners across Yorkshire and the North West.
Distances & Start Times
Our races are fully Trail Running Association licensed and take place on the beautiful Leeds to Liverpool Canal – a flat, scenic out-and-back route ideal for beginners and experienced runners alike.
- 10K – 10:00am start
- 10 Miler – 8:30am start
- Half Marathon – 9:00am start
- 20 Miler (2 x 10 mile laps) – 8:30am start
- Marathon (2 x half marathon laps) – 8:30am start
- Ultra Marathon (2 x half marathon laps + 10km) – 8:30am start
Plenty of choice for all abilities and training goals!
Route & Terrain
- Terrain: Canal towpath & compact trail — ideal for fast times
- Course Type: Out-and-back or lapped, depending on distance
- Support: Clearly signed with friendly marshals and feed stations every ~3 miles
- Suggested Footwear: Road Shoes

Travel & Parking
The start line is 5 minutes from Skipton Station. Parking available in local car parks and nearby streets. Please avoid using the Leisure Centre Pay & Display. Arrive early to secure a space.
Cut Off Time
6.5 hours for all distances. Participants must finish within this time.
Important Race Information
- Cup-less event – please bring a reusable cup or bottle to reduce waste
- Headphone policy: No over-ear headphones. Bone-conducting or one-ear-only permitted.
- Downloadable GPX files available — know your route
- Withdrawals – inform a marshal. Transfers can be managed online and will close 1 week before the event.
