Race for Remembrance - 9/11 Tribute Run
Join us for part two of our campaign for 9/11/2026. On the morning of 08 September after a reading honoring the 184 people whose lives were lost at the Pentagon 25 years ago, our Tribute Run will continue as we make our way to NYC.
A team of 30 runners from Old Town Run Club and Murphy's Run Club will have run 170 miles over a two-day period from the Flight 93 Memorial in Shanksville PA, carrying a flag that will continue all the way to New York.
Day 1: 110 miles passing through DC, heading north through Maryland into the hills in PA, finishing in Mountville PA.
Day 2: 69 miles starting at dawn, finishing in Skippack PA.
Day 3: 87 miles heading east through NJ and across the Goethals Bridge arriving in Staten Island, lodging at the Navy Lodge at Fort Wadsworth.
Day 4: 3.6 miles together from the Navy Lodge to the Staten Island Ferry, followed by a 0.6 mile run to Zuccotti Park, arriving before 08:46 AM for a prayer vigil and to pay respects. Over the four days, we will cover over 270 total miles.
Requirements: A full running vest will be required for twilight and night time running, no exceptions.
Registration Includes:
- Four nights in a hotel (Tues through Fri, checkout or extend on Saturday). Roommate of your choice; single rooms may be arranged based on availability (additional cost may apply).
- Van transportation departing Alexandria VA on 08 September. Vans will monitor runners and shuttle them to starting points. Return plans to Alexandria or Virginia Beach on the 12th and 13th.
- A dry fit shirt of your choice (Red/White/Blue). Additional shirts available for purchase.
- H20 and snacks provided in the vans; runners are responsible for their own food.
All runners and volunteers are expected to help with fundraising and raising awareness for our campaign and the foundation.
The race directors have absolute authority to deem a route “red” and every effort will be made to find an alternate route. When not available or if it is a safety concern we will skip that portion of the route.
