Polar Bear 5K Prediction Run
Welcome to the 2026 Rochester Running Club Polar Bear 5K Prediction Run! This unique event challenges participants to predict their finish time for a 5K race. The clock and finish line stopwatch will begin at 9:00 AM CST. Participants should start their race precisely at the time they predict they will finish before 10:00 AM. For example, if you predict a 30-minute 5K, start at 9:30 AM to finish at 10:00 AM. Finishing before 10:00 AM results in disqualification, but you still support a local 5K.
Prizes: The first 10 people to cross the line after 10:00 AM will win a festive Polar Bear trophy designed by Roger Heil. Participants are not allowed to wear or use a watch or any timing device.
Course: This year, the race will begin and end on the trail near Minnesota Treads, utilizing Cascade Lake for a nearly perfect 5K out-and-back course.
Registration Fees:
- November 1, 2025 - December 14, 2025: $20 for Rochester Running Club members / $25 for non-members (includes a race gift).
- December 15, 2025 - December 31, 2025: $25 for members / $30 for non-members.
- Raceday registration (8:00 AM - 8:30 AM): $30 for members / $35 for non-members.
Packet Pickup: Minnesota Treads from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM on race day.
