MURRAY MILE OCEAN CLASSIC

The MURRAY MILE OCEAN CLASSIC is an open water ocean swimming event, open to the public, inspired by lifeguard competitions. Proceeds benefit the Avalon Beach Patrol Alumni Association.

- Course name: THE MURRAY HALF
- Distance: 500m
- Prices: $40.00 - $45.00 - $50.00
The Murray Half mile option is new for 2026.
Event Details:
- Registration Closes: July 18th at 5:30 PM
- Start/Finish Location: Approximately 35th Street and the beach.
- Entry Fee Includes: Branded custom swim cap, chip timing, and a premium event branded fleece hoodie for the first 100 registered.
- Wetsuits: Permitted, but not eligible for awards.
- Cut-off Time: Mandatory 45 minutes for the mile swim.
- On-water Rescue: Avalon Beach Patrol.
Schedule:
- Packet Pick Up: 5:15 PM - 6:15 PM on Race Day at Avalon Beach Patrol Headquarters (32nd Street and the Beach).
- Mass Start (Murray Mile): 6:30 PM
- Mass Start (The Murray Half): 6:32 PM
- Awards: 7:15 PM at headquarters and NEMO'S Pizza.

- Murray Mile: Top 3 Male and Female Overall, Male and Female Age Group Winners (10-year increments).
- The Murray Half: Top 3 Male and Female Overall.
