Mühlhäuser Altstadtlauf zur Stadtkirmes
The Altstadtlauf is the sporting contrast to the Mühlhäuser Kirmes. Since 1997, approximately 800 to 1100 runners have participated annually on three different routes (1.7 km, 5 km, 10 km) through the old town. The intention was and still is to bring together running enthusiasts from Mühlhausen and the surrounding area and to make running more popular together. The start and finish line is traditionally at the Untermarkt in Mühlhausen.
The run was initiated by Dieter Elbert, former chairman of the Kreissportbund Unstrut-Hainich, and the Mühlhausen city administration. At the end of the 1990s, the city administration of Mühlhausen took over the organization completely and accompanied the run until its 20th anniversary. Since then, the organization and execution have been in cooperation with the local athletics club SV 1899 Mühlhausen e.V.
But: Without our sponsors, the execution of the run would not be possible. We are very grateful to be able to count on the financial, material and organizational support of numerous regional companies and institutions every year.
