MTC BEITHIR
The MTC BEITHIR is a one-day ultramarathon covering 39 miles. It is new for 2028 and forms Day 6 of the Mount to Coast SCOTIA nine-day end to end challenge. The route runs from Forces Manor in Kingussie to Travelodge Inverness, and competitors on this race will run alongside SCOTIA entrants.
Entry is limited to 20 race places, with an additional allowance of 20 SCOTIA competitors giving a maximum field of 40.
The event enforces time restrictions based on a minimum average speed of 4 miles per hour; falling below this threshold can result in withdrawal. The race is cup free so competitors must supply a reusable cup. Maps and GPX files are provided only to entrants and are emailed four weeks before the race.
Organisers provide competitor tracking devices with SOS capability. The mandatory kit list includes a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, provided route maps, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone, emergency food and a basic first aid kit. All finishers receive a bespoke BEITHIR medal and male and female champions receive bespoke trophies that are currently in design.
