Meanwood Holly Hustle
The Meanwood Holly Hustle is a forest trail race starting from the Meanwood Institute in Meanwood, Leeds. The route uses established trails through Meanwood Park and the Hollies, then follows the Meanwood Valley Trail past the Seven Arches viaduct and Adel Crag. The course includes narrow and technical sections and one small private road section that will be marshalled; runners are advised to keep to the pavement where possible.
Distance is 10.5 km (6.5 miles) with approximately 200 m of elevation gain. Terrain includes grass, rocky ground, muddy trails and footpaths. At this time of year the route is likely to be muddy and appropriate footwear is recommended. Headphones are not recommended because of the course conditions.
Race facilities at Race HQ include toilets, bag storage and a water station. The event is cupless; participants must bring their own water container for refill stations. Organisers recommend carrying a jacket or warm layer in case assistance is needed away from the road.
Entry is limited to 200 places and the minimum age is 18. Finishers are provided with complimentary soup. Optional extras such as medals or t-shirts can be added to entries in advance to reduce waste, and a Trees not Tees donation option is available to fund tree planting. Race HQ is close to Meanwood Park and there is nearby on-street parking and town centre car parks. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
