Manchester to Liverpool Ultra 50
The Manchester to Liverpool Ultra is a supported 50 mile trail race that follows the Trans-Pennine Trail, the Manchester Ship Canal and the River Mersey from Manchester to Liverpool. The route is waymarked and accompanied by six staffed checkpoints that provide refreshments, snacks and medical cover. A GPX route file is provided and live online GPS tracking is available via GB Race Tracker.
The event is licensed by the Trail Running Association and held under UK Athletics rules. Entrants must be at least 20 years old at race day and must have previously completed an organised marathon-distance event. The race has a 14 hour overall cut-off and specific checkpoint cut-offs that are strictly enforced.
Start and finish venues are published for participants; the start is at the Imperial War Museum North and the finish is at the North End Sports and Social Club in Liverpool. Race services include optional dropbags transported to the finish, race photography, and optional post-race coach transport subject to booking and availability. Pacers and support runners are not permitted and dogs (except service dogs) are not allowed at the start, checkpoints or finish.
Entry details for the event include a maximum of 750 places and published entry fees. The 2027 edition is listed as sold out; transfers of places are permitted up to 5 March 2027 under the event transfer policy. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.

The Manchester to Liverpool Ultra course is a well-marked, fast 50 mile race with a 14 hour cut-off, and is ideal for both the seasoned ultra-runner looking for a personal best on the distance and also a great introduction into ultra-running for beginners. Magnificent support from the GB Ultras team at 6 checkpoints. The event also attains ITRA points & UTMB mountain performance index points (allocation tbc). The event is licensed by the TRA (Trail Running Association) and held under UK Athletics Rules.
