Mad Trapper Backyard Ultra
Because you don't know how far you can go, until you've gone as far as you can.
The Mad Trapper Backyard Ultra is held on the trails at The Ark in Denholm, Quebec. The event offers an individual Last Person Standing format, a two person team option, and a winter snowshoe version. Runners must return to a central corral each hour and be present when the audio call signals the next lap to continue. The individual winner is the last person to complete a full loop solo.
Distances:
- Full course: approximately 5.5 to 6.0 km in summer
- Kristi Loop: approximately 500 m shorter than the full course, around 5 km in summer
- Winter full course: 5.5 km
- Winter Kristi Loop: under 5 km
The two person team race uses the Kristi Loop and has Friends and Couples categories. A racer is out if unable to complete a lap within an hour; the team continues until both members are out. Teams face a 16 hour cutoff or the duration of the individual event. Prizes are awarded for full and Kristi Loop winners.
Camping:
Registered Backyard Ultra runners can camp for free at The Ark on race weekend. The wilderness campsite includes flat tenting areas, clean outhouses, a firepit, picnic table, and drinking water. Warm outdoor showers are available for a small fee. This is rustic off-grid camping.
