Limestone Race Weekend
Limestone Race Weekend is a multi-race road running event organized by the Kingston Road Runners Association and held over a weekend in late April. The programme includes a short kids race and several adult distances on city and waterfront routes.
Distances and key route notes:
- 2K Tom Compton Memorial Run for kids, route passes through Kingston Penitentiary
- 5K road race
- Waterfront 10K with segments through the penitentiary and the Waterfront Trail
- Historic Half Marathon featuring a route that includes the Kingston Penitentiary
The half marathon has three water stations on the out and back course near Portsmouth Olympic Harbour, Lake Ontario Park and Harold Harvey Arena; only water is provided. Porta potties are available near the 6 km station. Chip timing is used for start and finish and race results are posted on race day.
Age group and gender categories determine awards; a Non-Binary/Open category was added for 2026. Cash prizes are awarded to the top three finishers in each race and a bonus is offered for breaking the half marathon course record. Proceeds support local charities. The event requires permits, does not offer refunds or deferrals, and provides designated kit pickup locations before race day. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
Event Details
Races will take place on the weekend of April 24-25, 2027. The Waterfront 10K and the Tom Compton Memorial Run (2K) for kids will take place on Saturday, April 24th. The 5K & Historic Half Marathon will be on Sunday, April 25th.
Saturday, April 24th — Kingston Penitentiary – east side parking lot.
TCM Kids 2K Race start time: 4:00 PM

Sunday, April 25th – Confederation Park (Ontario St. & Market St.), across from Kingston City Hall
Historic Half Marathon Race start time: 9:30 AM
5K Race start time: 10:00 AM
Obtaining approval on permits, from different agencies, are required to host an in-person running event. This event will not be issuing refunds or deferrals of any kind. Many of the costs of putting on a race are incurred well before the event. Registration fees directly cover these costs. We appreciate your understanding of why we are not able to accommodate refunds and appreciate your support.

- 5K: 14 and under, 15-19 Years, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80+
- 10K: 14-19 Years, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80+ << ages 13 and under are ineligible to run
