KROP - Kaizen Rite of Passage - Year 2
KROP returns to Tahlequah, Oklahoma at the rugged and scenic Welling Ridge Trails for its second year! Runners can choose from 4, 8, 16 (25k), 32 (50k) miles, or the brand-new 40 mile (65k) distance. All races follow the same 4-mile loop, bringing you back through the start/finish area every lap—where the energy, food, and support never stop.
Distances and Purpose:
- 4 Miler: For those new to running or looking for a shorter challenge.
- 8 Miler: Bridging the gap between a 10k and a half marathon.
- 25k (16 miles): For those wanting to go further than a half marathon but not yet marathon distance.
- 50k (32 miles): Your first step into the ultra world if you've conquered a marathon.
- 65k (40 miles): For experienced ultra athletes looking to work towards longer distances.
- Ruck Relay Team: A team event perfect for those interested in rucking.
KROP is designed to be a rite of passage, welcoming first-time trail runners and offering experienced athletes a chance to PR.
Special Challenges:
- The Extra Magic Mile: A bonus, uncounted mile that appears randomly for added fun.
- The Kaizen ROCK of Passage: A challenging contest for participants 18+ to carry a heavy rock back to the finish line for a $100 reward. At least two stones will be hidden in Year 2.
Finisher Perks & Awards:

- Special KROP belt buckle for 50k and 65k finishers.
- Top 3 finishers in each distance receive gold, silver, or bronze medals.

The Course:
Welling Ridge Trails offer beautiful but challenging rock-covered, root-twisted single track. The course is a 4-mile loop with approximately 417 feet of elevation gain and loss per loop.
