Kinloss Running Festival 2026
Welcome to the ‘Kinloss Running Festival 2026’. We are back with some more runway action for the 3rd time and we can't wait to see you all again! Held within Kinloss Barracks Training Area on the Moray coast in Scotland, and utilising roads and runways, there are road races ranging from a 1K Fun Run up to a Half Marathon. Or why not sign up for our Back Yard Ultra; a 4.1 mile loop 'on the hour, every hour' for something completely different! So whether you’re looking to complete that first 5K, training for a Half Marathon PB, or looking to tick off ‘one more yard’, then what are you waiting for…sign up now!
Please note - the Fun Run is a £2 entry on the day. All proceeds following event expenditure will be split between SSAFA (Inverness-shire & Western Isles Branch) and ABF - The Soldier's Charity.

The Routes
Back Yard Ultra - Course record of 31 yards (Cameron Grant, 2025). The Back Yard Ultra route is a 4.1 mile (6.7 km) loop, run on the hour every hour until 1 runner remains. Day Loop: A flat 'Out & Back' route which is 80% off road, consisting predominantly of rough grass, gravel trail, some tarmac and sand. Night Loop (2100 - 0800): A flat, looped route which is 100% 'Road & Runway' within Kinloss Barracks Training Area, making for a completely unique BYU experience; flat with no trip hazards! Elevation across the entirety of both routes is negligible (<20m). The routes start and finish at the Race Village.
Ray Hughes Half Marathon - This route is an AUKCM Officially Measured Course. The Ray Hughes Half Marathon route is a 13.1 mile ‘out and back’ route, using the northern runway, taxiways and perimeter road around the airfield within Kinloss Barracks Training Area. The route is entirely on tarmac or concrete surfaces with minimal elevation gain.
