Ivybridge 3 Tops - Saturday 15th August 2026
Senior (including U20) Start 17:30. Junior (U10, U12/U14 & U16/U18) start 16:30.
A fifth year running of this exciting Fell Race, organised by Erme Valley Harriers and part of the Dartmoor Fell Series. This year it will be held on a Saturday Evening in the summer. The race is approximately 10k with 450m of climb, offering stunning views over the South Hams.
The route is confirmed and agreed with the landowners and DNPA, designed to minimise erosion. Part of the entry fee will be given back to erosion management funds for Harford and Ugborough Moors where the race takes place.
Parking is at the railway station, with a short walk to Race HQ and registration at the rugby club. There is a 1km walk to the start on the edge of the moor (GR 654569). Please take care crossing the main road on the way to/from the start. Junior races start and finish here. The senior race starts here but finishes back at the rugby club. Registration closes 30 minutes before race start.
Seniors
The senior route takes you deep onto the moor, with a brisk start up Western Beacon, then crossing open moor to loop down, around and up to Weatherdon, some quick track followed by a tussocky scramble to take you past Glasscombe Ball then fast down to the stream crossing at Scada Brook. It involves a sharp rise up to Ugborough Beacon and a second stream crossing at Lud Brook, then across to Western Beacon for a very fast descent to the finish at the Rugby Club. There are clear tracks and trods in places but sound route finding will help with off-piste sections. Expect steep hills and uneven ground, so suitable footwear should be worn. Please take particular care crossing the busy road on the final mile.
U20s race in the senior race.
There will be a cut-off at Scada Brook (approx. 3 miles) of 60 minutes. If you fail to meet this time, marshals will transport you back to Race HQ. This is to prevent marshals remaining on the course into darkness.
Prizes for top 3 male & female plus U20, V40, V50, V60 & V70 categories. Also prizes for the first club with 3 males and first club with 3 females.
Vets are based on age on the day of the first Dartmoor Fell Series race (21st March 2026).
Male record: Sam Kelly - 00:42:58 - 2023
Female record: Jo Meek - 00:53:23 - 2022
Senior Race entry £9 (50p discount for Fell Running Association Members). On the day entry only if space allows for £10 cash.
Held under the rules of the Fell Runners Association, race classification BS.
Due to route restrictions to minimise erosion, the route will be marked with several mandatory checkpoint marshals.
Whilst there is no mandatory kit requirement, if the weather is looking bad then a whistle, raincoat and hat is advisable. No water will be provided on the route, so if hot, it will be advisable to carry water.
Juniors
Juniors race with a minimum age of 6.
The routes are largely runnable but it is a Fell Race so expect some steep hills and uneven ground in places so suitable footwear should be worn.
