Event Overview
The Indian River Kayak Bike Biathlon, now in its 19th year, is a fun and exciting multisport event scheduled for Sunday, July 19, 2026. Participants can join for fitness, fun, or competition. The event is limited to the first 100 registered participants.
Course Details
- Kayaking: The course begins with 2.24 miles of kayaking on the beautiful and historic Inland Waterway (Burt Lake and the Indian River).
- Bicycling: The course concludes with 11.68 miles of bicycling on the scenic North Central State Trail, which features a crushed limestone surface. Please note that extremely narrow tires are not recommended.
The start and transition from kayaking to biking are both at DeVoe Beach. The finish line is located near the Chamber of Commerce Building, with refreshments, awards, and prizes returning to DeVoe Beach.
Schedule
- 8:00 AM: Check-in begins at DeVoe Public Beach
- 9:00 AM: Race Start
- 11:00 AM: Award Ceremony begins at DeVoe Beach
Registration & What's Included
Registration opens April 1, 2026, at 8:00 AM EDT and is open to ages 12-100. Registration includes free refreshments, a free t-shirt (register by July 10th to ensure shirt receipt), and entry into drawings for great prizes. Beautiful wood plaques will be awarded to the top finishers in each age/gender category.
Participants must provide their own bicycle, proper helmet, kayak with paddle, and a Coast Guard approved life-jacket. Kayak rentals are available from Nor'East Outfitters, who will deliver to the race site.
