Event overview
Glenmore 24 is a 12/24-hour trail race held in Glenmore Forest near Loch Morlich, Aviemore in the Scottish Highlands. The event takes place on 5-6 September 2026. Entry is available for both 12-hour and 24-hour options and the organiser sets a maximum field size.
Course and facilities
The route is a loop of 4 miles with about 400 ft of ascent per loop. The loop starts at The Hayfield and follows off-road forest trails past Loch Morlich. There is a water stop around the 2-mile point and a short hill between miles 2 and 3. In the final hour there is an option to run a small 400 m loop; all 400 m loops are measured and recorded with a measuring wheel. If a 4-mile lap is started but not completed within the event time, that distance will not be recorded.
The Hayfield is used as a runners welfare area. Aid stations can be set up around the perimeter for crews to service on each lap. Motorhomes and campervans have allocated hard-standing areas and other vehicles are directed to roadside parking.
Rules, support and kit
Support crew are allowed but must remain in the start-finish area; 12-hour entrants may have one crew member and 24-hour entrants may have two. The organiser issues mandatory and recommended kit lists; mandatory items include a foil blanket, water container, food, a working mobile phone with race control number, a small first aid kit and a race vest. The use of NSAIDs during the race is prohibited. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
Race Information
The race starts at 12 lunchtime on Saturday 5th September 2026 and will finish at 12 lunchtime on Sunday the 6th September 2026. The race briefing will take place at 11.30am.
The safety car/sweepers will be out on the route every 2/3hrs to keep an eye on runners. It is a runners responsibility to inform their support crew of all information within the race briefing which is sent out 3 weeks before the race. Runners are reminded to read and understand the full race briefing and should ask any questions if they are in any doubt about any information. “I didn’t know” is not an excuse and will lead to disqualification.
Weather Note:
Please note this event is run in the Scottish Highlands in September where the weather can be harsh and unforgiving. There will be a mandatory and recommended kit list issued with the race briefing. Past years have seen temperatures drop to between -2 and -5 in 2019. See the race rules below for an idea of the mandatory kit. This will be confirmed in the race briefing.
