Glasgow to Edinburgh Ultra
The Glasgow to Edinburgh Ultra is a long distance ultramarathon covering 57 miles with 231 m of elevation. The event is scheduled for Saturday 10 October 2026 and Saturday 9 October 2027 and offers 750 places with an overall cut off time of 16 hours. Entry fees start from £117.
The route leaves Glasgow and finishes at Edinburgh Athletics Track. It follows the River Kelvin, Sustrans Route 754, the Forth and Clyde Canal, the Union Canals, and the Water of Leith, passing the Falkirk Wheel and the Antonine Wall. Terrain is mainly canal towpath, tarmac and concrete. The course is waymarked with biodegradable tape and signage and a GPX file is provided.
There are multiple staffed checkpoints along the route. Two checkpoints are water only while others provide refreshments, vegetarian and vegan options, and basic medical cover. Strict cut off times apply at each checkpoint and participants must check in at every checkpoint or risk disqualification. Live GPS tracking is provided by GB Race Tracker and trackers include an SOS function.
Mandatory kit must be carried at all times and will be checked. Required items include a waterproof coat with sealed seams, a long sleeved base layer, at least 1 litre of water, a fully charged mobile phone, a foil blanket, a headtorch of minimum 75 lumens, a backup light, a whistle and the GPS tracker supplied at registration.
Entrants must be at least 20 years old, in good health and have previously completed an organised event of at least marathon distance. Pacers are not permitted and supporter access is restricted at certain checkpoints. Optional dropbags are permitted subject to size and weight limits and must be collected at the finish. Medals and Trophies
Top 200 finishers earn a Gold G2E Ultra Medal, 201-400 finishers earn a Silver G2E Ultra Medal and 401+ finishers earn the Bronze G2E Ultra Medal. There are additional Bespoke GB Ultras Trophies for the Top 3 Male and Top 3 Female finishers. The Glasgow to Edinburgh Ultra is part of the GB Ultras 50 Mile SLAM and GB Ultras 50 Mile GRAND SLAM!
