Elbe Trail Challenge
Embark on the Elbe Trail Challenge, a unique endurance event combining trail running and cultural exploration on the beautiful island of Elba, with excursions to Pisa and Florence. The event takes place from Sunday, April 11 to Saturday, April 17, 2027.
Concept
The Elbe Trail Challenge offers a grand traverse of the island of Elba, a picturesque Italian island between Corsica and Tuscany. Participants can choose between a timed trail race in 4 stages or a non-timed hiking formula with shorter routes. The event features challenging mountain trails with panoramic views, culminating in a Vertical Kilometer race from sea level to the island's highest point, Mont Capanne (1,019 meters). Accommodation is provided in a charming hotel in Porto-Ferraio. The itinerary also includes cultural visits to the Leaning Tower of Pisa and the Renaissance city of Florence.
Race Format Options:
- Trail Race: Individual timed race in 4 stages with classification, marked routes, and aid stations approximately every 10-12 km.
- Hiking Formula: A gentler, non-timed option with shorter stages on parts of the trail route, allowing participants to proceed at their own pace.
Participants can switch between formulas or skip stages as needed. The organization guarantees a fun and memorable experience with a friendly team, solid logistics, clear trail marking, comfortable accommodation, and well-stocked aid stations.
