Druridge Bay Duathlons
The Druridge Bay Duathlons take place at Druridge Bay Country Park on the Northumberland coast on 21 March 2027. The event uses park footpaths for the runs and a flat coastal route for the bike legs. The run course follows a footpath through woods and meadows around the lake; the bike course leaves the park to follow the coastal road.
There are two distances on offer:
- Sprint: Run 5.3 km, Bike 19 km, Run 2.5 km
- Standard: Run 10.5 km, Bike 38 km, Run 5 km
Minimum ages are specified by the organisers: competitors must be 15 years old by 31 December for the sprint and 17 years old by 31 December for the standard distance. The event has previously served as a British Triathlon Age Group Qualifying event for the World Standard Distance Duathlon Championships in 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026.
Druridge Bay Country Park sits beside Druridge Bay beach and offers a visitor centre, a café, an outdoor play area, sheltered picnic spots, and camping, caravan, and motorhome facilities. The run route follows the footpath that winds its way through the woods and meadows that surround the lake. The bike route will take you out of the Country Park along the flat coastal route.
