Devil's Punchbowl 10km
This is a guided trail run around the Devil's Punchbowl near Hindhead, Surrey. The advertised distance is 10 km and the meeting point is the Devil's Punchbowl Car Park. Parking is available and the listed cost is £16 per person.
The route follows trails through the natural amphitheatre known as the Devil's Punchbowl and includes several hills. The group pauses at the top for views. Climbs may be walked and the group regroups regularly to keep participants together.
Runs are offered at dusk during the lighter months and at night during the darker months. Night runs are organised as group headtorch runs to provide a supervised experience on trails after dark. The organiser provides a full kit list in advance and offers a selection of Silva headtorches to trial on the run.
This event is organised as a social group run rather than a race. Participants should be comfortable maintaining an average pace of around 10 min per mile (6:15 min per km) on trails for prolonged periods. Meet your guide
I’m Matt Buck, a Salomon and Suunto Ambassador, experienced trail and ultra runner, mountain leader, qualified guide, and coach. I’ve tackled some of the toughest races and challenges around the world. I'm passionate about trail running and love sharing stories, guidance and advice with my clients. You don't need to worry about where you are going or the route we will take, I will take care of everything so all you need to do is concentrate on running and having fun.
Pace
This is not a race, we’ll run as a group and enjoy the experience together. We often hike steeper climbs and regroup regularly, but you should be comfortable maintaining an average pace of around 10 min/mile (6:15 min/km) on trails for prolonged periods of time to enjoy this event. Faster runners should expect an easier, more social pace at times.
