Buckeye Trail 50k & 25k
This event features a 25K Point-to-Point race from Pine Lane to Oak Grove, utilizing the same scenic trails as the 50K. The Buckeye Trail 50k has a rich history, originating in 1994 as an informal birthday run by Joe Jurczyk. Initially an out-and-back course, it has evolved with the park system while maintaining its allure. Recognized as Ohio's oldest trail 50k, this race is now in its 32nd year and has grown in popularity alongside the sport of trail running.
The original 50k course started at Oak Grove and extended south to Pine Lane, incorporating segments to Brecksville Road and originally exceeding 50K in length. The out-and-back format allowed participants to see each other along the course. The event had thirteen finishers in its first year, with Steve Godale and Mark Godale completing their first ultramarathon together in 5:12:18.
