Brodick Glencloy Trail - Isle of Arran
The Brodick Glencloy Trail is a trail race of approximately 10 km that starts and finishes in Brodick on the Isle of Arran and is held under Scottish Athletics rules. The route sets out from Ormidale Sports Pavilion and proceeds through the South East corner of the sports field, West Mayish estate, and a field onto the Old Lamlash Road footpath. Runners follow a rough footpath up to the ridge between Brodick and Lamlash, join a broad Forestry road for about half a mile, then descend into Glen Cloy.
The course crosses the Cloy Burn on a Forestry bridge, descends a footpath, crosses two rough fields, and follows a track beside the burn past Auchrannie Resort to finish at the old garage forecourt at the bottom of Auchrannie Road. Only around 250 yards of the route are on tarmac pavement or road, so trail shoes with grip are recommended. The total ascent is about 600 feet from and back to sea level.
Facilities at Ormidale include toilets and changing rooms, and cars may be parked in the Ormidale Sports Ground car park. There are eating options in Brodick. The minimum age for entry is 16 and the event has a limit of 100 runners.
