Blue Bully Ultra: Overview
Blue Bully Ultra is a three-day trail stage race held September 25–27, 2026 at Blue Mountain Resort, Ontario, on the Bruce Peninsula. Entrants may register for individual days or all three. The event offers two overall tracks: Big Bully for the longer distances and Little Bully for shorter options. A youth event, the Woolly Bully, is available for competitors aged 15 and under.
Distances and elevation by stage:
- Day 1: 5 km, 400 m elevation gain
- Day 2: 50 km / 25 km, 2,800 m / 1,600 m elevation gain
- Day 3: 2.5 km loop, 125 m elevation gain per loop, timed 3-hour race
Each day concludes with an awards ceremony for the top three male and female finishers. On Sunday, overall awards are presented to competitors who completed all three days in the Big Bully and Little Bully categories. Aid stations and checkpoints are placed along the routes; runners may not cache gear at checkpoints but may hand garbage to volunteers.
Support crew and drop bag rules are specified by stage. Support is allowed at designated checkpoints; drop bags must weigh under 15 kg and fit within 75 x 50 x 40 cm and will be tagged by bib number if provided. The event provides medical coverage and search and rescue support. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
Three Styles of Racing
Sign up for individual days, or all three at once to be a part of the full weekend experience. This isn't just a race – it's a full weekend of trail running and fun, designed for every kind of runner. Challenge yourself over three days of trail racing – from fast vertical climbs, to ultra-distance grinds, to a strategic time-based finale. Ontario's only three-day stage race is here. Will you take on the challenge? The weekend offers three styles of race, all set to the backdrop of the changing autumn colours of the Bruce Peninsula. The Big Bully consists of the longest distances of all three days, or choose the Little Bully and do the shorter distances.
Day 1: The Stampede
The Friday evening event is short and fast, with as much vertical as we can pack into 5km.
- 5km
- 400m of elevation gain
Day 2: The Drive
Saturday is about distance, in this cross-country 50k/25k classic. For buckos aged 15 and under, there is also the Woolly Bully Kids Race.
- 50km / 25km
- 2,900m / 1,600m of elevation gain
Day 3: The Round-Up
We wrap up the weekend on Sunday with a 3-hour, timed loop race. Do as many loops as you can in three hours.
- 2.5km loop
- 125m of elevation gain
There is an award ceremony each day, where the top three female and male finishers will join us on the podium. On Sunday, we have the big awards for the top competitors who raced all three days of the Big Bully and Little Bully.
New for 2026!
- A revised 25k and 50k course that removes almost all of the trail crossovers
- The Day 3 loop is shortened to 2.5km – this will increase the number of loops, and add to the excitement and strategy of the race
- We have removed the 1.5-hour loop option from Day 3 – in a loop race, you just self-regulate the number of loops you want to do ;)
What you get:
- First and foremost, you get a fun, exciting, and professionally organized event
- Racers who sign up for all three days get a ticket to the post-race meal on Friday and Saturday – everyone else is welcome to purchase tickets
- Each day has a different swag item – Day 1 = microfiber neck tube/head wrap – Day 2 = high-quality tech tee – Day 3 = custom Blue Bully toque. Register for all three days and you rece
