Běh kolem Práchně
The traditional date for the race is the first Saturday in November. The race route was extended in 2024 after 30 years to approximately 9.5 km, which effectively follows the green walking circuit from Horažďovice over the Prácheň hill to Velké Hydčice, after crossing the Otava river from Malé Hydčice it returns along a new cycle path, to cross over the Mlýnský náhon at the weir Na špičce into the Ostrov English park, through which runners return to Horažďovice via the Zářečí city district. The start and finish, as well as the race facilities, have also moved since 2024 from the area of Horažďovice Castle to Envicentrum PROUD in Nábřežní street (EC PROUD became the successor organization of the House of Children and Youth, which previously organized the race together with the local KČT).
Most of the route runs on unpaved paths, only the exit from the city and the return to the city are on asphalt, but these are relatively short sections. The most demanding part of the run is the climb from the farm to the Church of St. Kliment on Prácheň, where the route runs vertically. The subsequent descent from Prácheň to the railway line at the Otava river is also demanding. The return to Horažďovice along the gravel cycle path and through Ostrov park is a reward.
The race is currently only for adult categories (men/women), the race runs during full operation, it is well marked and organizers are present at potentially critical points.
The next year will take place on November 7, 2026.
