Arrochar Alps Hill Race Information

Race Registration: Three Villages Hall, Arrochar. Between 09:00 and 10:40. A 1km walk to the start line. Race briefing at 10:50.
Route and General Info: This race, created in 1987 and resurrected in 2007, is 25km with 2400m climb, taking in four local munros. The route starts at sea level, climbs Glen Loin to Ben Vorlich, crosses Sloy Dam, ascends Ben Vane, continues toward Beinn Ime and finishes on Beinn Narnain. The last 2km along the forestry track are marked.
Experience Requirement: Competitors must be at least 18 years old and have previous experience of at least one category AL race and one category AM race or equivalent. Ultras, long trail races, and flagged events are not considered equivalent experience. Applicants must supply suitable experience for vetting, and approval is required before payment instructions are issued. The Race Director's decision is final in the interests of safety.
Navigation and Safety: Runners must be familiar with rough, trackless mountain terrain and be able to navigate accurately, often alone and in poor visibility. GPS devices must not be used as a navigational aid. The race route is not marked, except for the last 2km.
Compulsory Kit: Full waterproof body cover, hat, gloves, route map, compass, whistle, mobile phone, food and drink, and hill shoes. Maps must be laminated or in a waterproof case. Kit will be checked at registration.

- Sloy dam - 13:40
- Col between Ben Vane & Beinn Ime - 14:50
- Bhealach a’ Mhaim - 15:45
The aim is to get all runners back within six and a half hours.
Facilities: Toilets, changing, and bag storage are at Three Villages Hall.
Transport: Council car parks at the head of Loch Long. Citylink buses and ScotRail trains serve the area. Car sharing or public transport is recommended.
Prizegiving and Refreshments: Take place at Three Villages Hall.
