About the race
The Antwerp Backyard Ultra will take place in Borgerhout on Friday 19 June 2026. You can run 7 kilometers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
The Concept
The concept is simple, the ordeal all the more difficult. Every hour, participants start a 6.7 kilometer (4.167 miles) loop on a flat but varied course in Schelle. Participants must arrive back at the starting point within the hour, as the loop must be completed every hour. If you cross the finish line too late or are too late at the start, the race stops for the participant.
The winner of this ultra-race is the last participant who manages to complete the round alone. The other participants will have the letters ‘DNF’ behind their name: ‘Did Not Finish’. This form of ultra-race is a true test of endurance where the runner pushes their limits. Therefore, the ‘Antwerp Backyard Ultra’ remains primarily a personal challenge for every ultrarunner.

When participating in a Backyard Ultra, the mental aspect is certainly as important as the physical. Like all other running races, it's not about speed but about distance. To support you in this challenge, you will enjoy many benefits upon registration that can help you:
Start time and location
We will give the first starting signal on Friday, June 19, 2026, at 8 PM. The start and finish are planned in the park of Schelle. Parking is available nearby at the church square and is free. Address: Hamerstraat 1 2627 Schelle.

Medical care
Qualified personnel will be present at the start and finish zone throughout the entire competition.
Food & Drinks
On Friday evening and Saturday, all supporters are welcome at our bar to enjoy soft drinks, cava, or a local craft beer from Brouwerij De Klem. Coffee will be provided for the early birds. On Friday evening, snacks will be available to satisfy your hunger.
Registering a supporter
There is an option to register a supporter. This allows them to use the full supply package. There is also the possibility to set up a tent on the campsite.

Timing
There will be a board in the start and finish zone showing the number of laps completed by the participants. Updates will be posted regularly on our Facebook page during the race.
Camping Bakjaard
Each participant can bring a tent to set up at our start and finish zone. It can be a maximum of 3x3m. There will also be a large tent available for runners who do not bring a tent, where they can leave their equipment. Supporters are not allowed there to ensure sufficient space for participants.
Silver Race Ticket
ABYU has the honor of awarding a Silver Ticket to the winner of the competition. This gives the right to start in the World Team Championship on October 17, 2026. Would you like to secure a spot in Team Belgium in another way? There are 15 places, 6 of which are reserved for the winners of the 6 Silver Ticket races in Belgium. The other 9 places are for the best results run between August 16, 2024, and August 15, 2026. More information can be found via this link.
