AJ Bell Great Birmingham Run: 2 May 2027
The AJ Bell Great Birmingham Run stages two mass-participation races through central Birmingham and surrounding neighbourhoods. Both races start in Centenary Square on Broad Street and finish on Jennens Road into Aston University’s event village. Start and finish maps are included in the event guide.
Distances:
- Half marathon
- 10k
The routes pass city landmarks including the Jewellery Quarter, St Paul’s Square, the Mailbox, Grand Central at New Street Station, St Martin’s Church, Southside and Digbeth. The half marathon continues into south Birmingham, visiting Cannon Hill Park, Selly Park and the area around Edgbaston Stadium before rejoining the 10k route for the finish.
On-course support includes hydration stations, toilets and entertainment such as live music and a finish-line DJ. Official event photos and timed results are available after the event. A free Great Run event day app provides runner tracking, split times and photo access; participant information is uploaded up to the day of the event.
Logistics and services noted by the organiser include baggage buses near the start, delivery of race numbers (containing timing chips) from about four weeks before the event with collection options for later or overseas entries, wave allocation based on estimated time, and an optional personalised medal attachment and finishers t-shirt. Entry age limits apply: 15+ for the 10k and 17+ for the half marathon. Visit the organisation's website for the most recent information.
