4th Annual Teal Ribbon Family Fun Walk at the Oregon Zoo
Ovarian cancer affects many women, with an estimated 21,010 new diagnoses in the United States in 2026. In Oregon and Washington alone, approximately 1,610 new cases are expected. This deadly gynecologic cancer remains the fifth leading cause of cancer-related death among women. Early detection is crucial, as nearly three-quarters of cases are diagnosed at later stages, significantly reducing survival rates.
Awareness matters. The Oregon Cancer Alliance of Oregon & SW (OCAOSW) is hosting the 4th Annual Teal Ribbon Fun Walk on June 27, 2026, to promote education about symptoms and risk factors. Since there is no reliable screening test, informed communities are vital for early detection and improved survival rates.
This 1.5-mile walk at the Oregon Zoo brings together survivors, families, friends, and advocates to show visible support for those impacted by ovarian cancer. It's an opportunity to stand together and advance the conversation surrounding this disease.
Goals:
- Promote education and awareness about ovarian cancer.
- Unite the local ovarian cancer community, including survivors, friends, families, medical professionals, and advocates, for a common goal.
- Raise funds for OCAOSW.
