1. Scharfenberger Mini Ultra
The Laufsportfreunde from Scharfenberg have launched a new race, the "Scharfenberger Mini Ultra." Lars Striegler and Anja Feder had the idea for this event. They presented the concept and rules last year, followed by two trial runs with participants exclusively from SV Scharfenberg. Jürgen Winter and I were also present. Based on the experiences and insights from these two runs, the announcement for this new race with an interesting set of rules was created.
Race Rules
The overall race is divided into two parts. At 10 AM, children started on a 600m circuit. A time limit was set for this round. All participants who met this round time limit started together again for the 2nd round. Those who did not reach this time limit had their competition ended. Gradually, the round times were reduced until only two runners were left in the race, who then fought for the victory among themselves. The overall winner here was Julius Berger, the son of our club member Jack Berger. His winning distance was 16,800 m. Among the girls, the winner came from Scharfenberg. Hanna Leni Moldenhauer covered 9,600 m.
Precisely at 12 PM, the main race started over a lap length of 1100 m. Participants from the U14 age group and older were competing. Of course, the same scoring mode applied here. The first laps were tactical play. For this reason, the field of 38 participants thinned out very slowly. But as the given round times were significantly reduced, the field quickly became quite manageable. Peter Frohnwieser from Dresden ran a total of 25 laps, which corresponded to a distance of 27.5 km. Although he was alone on the course after 22 laps, he wanted to set a course record as the first winner of the Mini Ultra, which will be difficult to beat. In the women's category, Jessica Schymik from Oedera took 1st place with 15,400 m. Our club member Tobias Mieth ran 18 laps / 19,800 m. This meant 3rd place on the podium. Jack Berger managed 17,600 m and had to drop out after 16 laps in 5th place.
The premiere was a success, and we have decided that the "Mini Ultra" will be part of the "Meißner Sparkassen – Cup" in the 2026 running season. On Friday, October 31, 2026, it will be the last race in this Cup series.
