Yukon River Trail Marathon
The Yukon River Trail Marathon is an annual race organized by the Boreal Adventure Running Association, established in 1999. The event takes place in Whitehorse and follows trails that connect riverfront and lakeside areas.
The course starts on the Millennium Trail, then follows single track to Kwanlin (Miles Canyon) and Canyon City. It continues on the Yukon River Trail toward Chadburn Lake, runs along Chadburn Lake, Schwatka Lake and Hidden Lakes, passes near the Whitehorse dam, returns to the Millennium Trail and follows the Yukon River (Chu Níikwän) to the finish area.
Registration opens on March 2 2026 and must be completed online. Bib pickup is scheduled for July 31 and August 1 at a location to be confirmed. The race is held on August 2 2026. When the event is sold out, a draw for additional entries may be used, as was done for 15 additional spots.
Volunteers help direct runners, provide on-course refreshments, staff timing and sound systems, and manage finish area tasks. Volunteers receive a small gift, a race-day snack, and appreciation from participants. The race takes place on the traditional territories of the Ta’an Kwäch’än Council and the Kwanlin Dün First Nation. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.

GET INVOLVED
Races can't happen without people to, er, run them. Not a runner? No problem! There is always room on our volunteer team. Racers need to be directed onto the right trail, watered along the course, and fed at race end. We also run the timing system and sound system, gathering and sharing the race results. You ARE a runner or walker? We have several tasks in the days and months before race day too. YRTM is run by a volunteer board of directors and various committees who obtain.
