XTERRA Sleeping Giant: Thunder Bay, Ontario

XTERRA Sleeping Giant takes place on August 16, 2026 in Thunder Bay, Ontario, centered at Boulevard Lake and Kinsmen Park. The event is part of the XTERRA World Tour and the XTERRA Trail Run World Series and includes multiple multisport and trail running races.

The bike course is mountain bike only and mixes bike paths, doubletrack and singletrack. Trails used are rated green or blue, corresponding to easy to moderate levels. The run course combines gravel paths, doubletrack and singletrack with short rolling climbs. There are two transition areas: T1 at Boulevard Lake and T2 at Kinsmen Park. Run starts are from Kinsmen Park except the half marathon which starts at Boulevard Lake and finishes at Kinsmen Park. The event is organized by a not for profit, volunteer based local organization. Registration purchases are final and non refundable. XTERRA World Championship qualification slots are allocated here with 56 slots for the full distance triathlon and 28 trail run slots.
