About the race

The Welsh 1000m Peaks Race is a long-standing and iconic mountain/fell race, based in Eryri, North Wales. For over 50 years, it is the only race of its kind tracing a bee-line route from the coast, through steep mountain cwms, over rocky summits, exciting technical ridges and finishing at the very top of the highest mountain in Wales; Yr Wyddfa / Snowdon. Challenging but achievable for many, the Welsh 1000m Peaks Race continues to attract those experienced or new to running in Eryri mountains.
Race Route
Both the long and short course of the Welsh 1000m Peaks Race offer excellent mountain race experience, over rough and rocky ground, as well as more runnable grassy slopes and pitched stone paths.
Race Kit
The specified Minimum Race Kit must be carried. The race finishes at 1085m above sea level; competitors must have adequate layers to safeguard against rapid cooling at this height.
Race Day
Two Race Registration locations to help runners make efficient journeys to the race. Please use the Welsh 1000m Peaks Race Facebook Page to facilitate lift shares and reduce single-person car journeys.
