Weihnachtscross Borgholzhausen
The Weihnachtscross in Borgholzhausen is a classic race held annually at the end of the year. Since its premiere in 1972, the cross-country run has attracted numerous athletes from the region and beyond each year. With its varied, partly hilly courses over the Barenberg and the surrounding landscape, the run offers a real nature experience – often accompanied by winter conditions such as mud, snow, or frost. This is precisely what makes this classic so appealing!
Competitions
- 16 km: Two challenging laps in the Barenberg area.
- 10 km: Also profiled, but with a shorter lap.
- 5 km: Cross-country run for beginners and hobby runners.
- 7.5 km Walking / Nordic Walking: A beautiful route in a winter landscape for those who prefer a more relaxed pace.
Organizer & History
The first Weihnachtscross took place in 1972 – back then, it was 15 km as a large loop from Heidbreder Weg to Osningstraße. In the 1980s, the route took on its current character: two laps over the Barenberg with start and finish in the Ravensberger Stadium. Over the decades, the run has steadily grown and established itself as a true classic – sporty and challenging, yet with a familiar atmosphere. With the merger of LC Solbad Ravensberg e.V. and three other Borgholzhausen clubs in 2024, RSV Borgholzhausen e.V. has taken over the organization. This secures the future of the Weihnachtscrosslauf and opens up new possibilities for further developing this tradition.
