Wadsworth Half Trog
The Wadsworth Half Trog is a fell race held on 8 November 2026 that covers 9.3 miles (15 km) with approximately 1400 ft (420 m) of ascent. The route follows much of the terrain of the full Trog but over a shorter distance, passing varied moorland and sections that can be muddy. The course is only partially flagged; it will be flagged at the start and from CP8 to the finish. There are regular shoots on the moors so recces on Saturdays are not permitted.
The race uses a series of checkpoints including Tom Tittiman, High Brown Knoll Trig, Dean Head reservoirs embankment, Warley Moor reservoir, Fence corner, Ferney Lee farm gate and Sheepstones Trig, before returning to the finish. A map of the route is provided by the organisers. The event is licensed by the Fell Runners Association under UKA rules and is a non GPS race for navigation purposes. GPS devices may be used to record a route but must not be used to aid navigation except in an emergency; any competitor who uses GPS to navigate to safety must declare themselves non-competitive at the finish.
FRA mandatory minimum kit is compulsory. Required items include a waterproof full body cover (waterproof trousers and a waterproof jacket with an integrated hood and taped seams), a hat or buff, gloves, map, compass, whistle and emergency food. A kit check is carried out before race numbers are allocated and participants without the correct kit will not be allowed to race.
Entry fees are stated as pre entry FRA members £5.00 and non members £7.50, with entry on the day fees listed as members £6.00 and non members £8.50. Pre entry is via SiEntries by the 7th November 2025 and entry on the day may be available up to the race limit of 200. The minimum age for entry is 18.
