About the Event
This event lasts 6 hours and 30 minutes, and you don’t need any special skills to volunteer with Run 4 Wales. There are a variety of roles available on race day tailored to suit all interests:
- Support the Runners Bag Drop marquee on Museum Avenue, near City Hall and interact with runners pre- and post-race.
- Hand out t-shirts, fruit, water, and medals while congratulating runners at the Finish Line on King Edward VII Avenue.
- Be a Course Marshal along the route, directing and cheering on runners.
- Join the cycle marshal team, moving between locations to support marshal teams as needed (requires your own bike and helmet).
- Help distribute bottled water at one of the four water points along the route.
The Extra Miler volunteers form a warm and welcoming community. If you're volunteering near the start-finish area, we all meet at the Volunteer Welcome Marquee early on event day to sign in, collect kits, and enjoy a hot drink while meeting fellow volunteers. Your supervisor will provide a full briefing before you head to your designated area.
All Extra Milers receive an exclusive volunteers branded t-shirt and bag, a lunch pack, and day-of support from a supervisor. Volunteering is an excellent way to make friends, enhance your CV, and soak in the electric atmosphere of race day.
For individual volunteers, the minimum age is 14, and they must be accompanied by an adult. If you're part of a local community or youth group interested in volunteering, we’d love to hear from you. We also offer corporate volunteering days for businesses with corporate social responsibility goals.
Join us for the Cardiff Half Junior races, which take place on Saturday, 5th October, between 10 am and 1 pm!
