Trails of Mena Marathon and 20 mile run
Trails of Mena is a trail running event based at North Wingfield Community Resource Centre, Whiteleas Avenue, North Wingfield, Chesterfield, Derbyshire. The event offers two race options.
Trail Marathon
20 mile trail run
The course is an anti-clockwise circular route combining trail, field and woodland with varied climbs and runnable sections. The route will be partially marked with arrows at major junctions and GPX files are provided for both races. Participants are responsible for their own navigation. The route starts a short walk from race HQ and follows the 5 Pits Trail to Pilsley and Tibshelf, heads east to Teversal, then passes Rowthorne near Hardwick Hall. Runners skirt surrounding woodland, cross the M1, pass through farmland at Sutton Scarsdale and Sutton Springs Wood, and rejoin the 5 Pits Trail for the return to the finish. There will be two checkpoints on the 20 mile route and three on the marathon. Checkpoints will offer drinks and sweet and savoury food. A seven hour time limit applies. Other details: entry is open from 4 June 2026 and closes 6 March 2027. Entry fees are listed for affiliated and non affiliated competitors. Minimum age is 18. Free car parking is available at the centre and on adjoining estate roads. Every finisher receives a medal, first male and female in each race receive prizes, light refreshments are available at the finish, and medic cover is provided. Registration
8am – 8.45am at North Wingfield Community Resource Centre, Whiteleas Avenue, North Wingfield, S42 5PW. Free car parking is available at the centre and on the adjoining estate roads.

Checkpoints
Two checkpoints on the 20mile route and three checkpoints on the marathon route. All checkpoints will provide drinks and food (both sweet and savoury).
- CP1: Teversal, 8 miles
- CP2: Sutton Scarsdale, 15.5 miles
- CP3: Sutton Scarsdale, 21.5 miles (marathon only)
Every finisher receives a medal. Prizes for first M / F in each race. Light refreshments at the finish. There is medic cover out on the course and at the race HQ.
