Tour of Merseyside
The Tour of Merseyside is a weeklong running event held across six different venues in Merseyside. The sequence of races covers fifty two miles over seven days, with each day offering a different distance, location and terrain. The event is scheduled next for 27 June 2027. Entry availability includes a single price point listed as £150.
The event traces its origins to a double marathon concept developed in the early 1980s. In 2025 a Club Team Challenge was introduced: teams of six, which must include male and female athletes, are ranked by combined time to determine the winning club. Support during each race includes bottled water available on course and post race snacks at the finish. The format emphasizes consecutive daily races at multiple venues rather than a single mass participation race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
Event Details
The Tour of Merseyside week is a unique running experience that takes in six different venues across Merseyside and covers fifty two miles over seven days. Each race is different in distance, location and terrain. Make no mistake, it is challenging but very rewarding at the same time.
The original Tour concept was created by Dr. Ron Hill in the early 80's as a Double Marathon challenge as everyone had caught marathon fever back in 1981 with the launch of the London Marathon. The Tour was a different kind of running experience and as far removed from the mass participation offered by London and many other marathons at the time.
In 2025 we introduced the Club Team Challenge: an extra competition for clubs. From teams of six (which must comprise male and female athletes) we calculate the best combined time to win. The inaugural winners were Marsh Lane Harriers. Will they retain the trophy in 2027?
We look after you! Bottled water is available throughout the course of each race. And at the finish you'll find post race snacks.
