Top Of The World Ultra
Top Of The World is a Sun Peaks, British Columbia trail running event scheduled for June 27, 2026. It is the second annual edition and takes place on Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc territory. The event supports the Sun Peaks Mountain Rescue Society.
Distances offered:
- 50 km ultra covering three mountains.
- 28 km route reaching Mount Tod summit.
- 17 km route revised from an earlier 15 km listing.
Courses include single track, technical ascents and descents, mountain bike trails, forest service roads, meadows and forests. The 50 km route reaches Mount Tod at 2130 m and continues across Orient Hill, Little McGillivray Lake and Mount Morrisey. Reported elevation change is about 1600 m for the 50 km, 1164 m for the 28 km and 673 m for the 17 km.
Aid and logistics: the 50 km has three aid stations at 8.5 km, 27 km and 45 km plus water stations at 19 km and 35 km. The 28 km has aid at 8.5 km and 19 km. The 17 km has an aid station at 8.5 km. Registration includes a $5.00 donation to Sun Peaks Mountain Rescue Society, a finisher medal and a custom finishers cup. Manual timing is used rather than chip timing. Participant numbers are limited to 400 and registration closes when that limit is reached or on June 19, 2026.
Additional details: the event starts and finishes in the Main Village at Sun Peaks Resort. The 50 km allows one drop bag to Aid Station 2. The event is cupless so participants should carry a reusable cup. Required items for the 50 km and 28 km include the ability to carry at least 1 litre of water plus a jacket, gloves and a space blanket. Spectators may access the aid station at the top of the Sunburst Express by purchasing a lift ticket. You choose to run a 50k, 28k or 17km distance.
There is a limit of 400 participants for 2026
Registration closes when we reach 400 participants or June 19, 2026.
A discount code to book your stay at The Sun Peaks Grand Hotel will be sent to participants after they have booked the event registration.

If you do not live locally or cannot make it to the local event, then you can register for the Virtual Event and run your chosen distance or time wherever you live! All participants receive finisher swag !
Your event package is mailed to you and will arrive before June 28, 2025. This gives you the option to help us raise money and awareness, run or hike where you live, (maybe create a group run with friends?!), and we can all run together around the world on the same day!
Your registration fee includes your bib number, a finisher swag, a $5.00 donation to Sun Peaks Mountain Rescue Society and shipping.
Important: Registration for our Virtual Runners closes May 1, 2025 so that we have time to mail your package to you before event day.
Course Information
Start and Finish Line:

All of distances are going to be encountering ascending, technical trails, mountain bike trails, forest service road type of trails, meadows and forests and don't forget you have to come back down some fun descents!
The 50km route is going to wind you all the way up to the top of Mount Tod a summit of 2130m before taking you across to Orient Hill. From here you head down to Little McGillivray Lake before your final mountain, Mount Morrisey. This 50km route covers all three mountains in Sun Peaks.
The 28km route is jam packed! It is going to wind you all the way up to the top of Mount Tod a summit of 2130m before taking you back down to the Sunburst Express. From here you head back down to the start and finish line via the Valley View Trail which lives under some of the chair lifts.
The 15km(ish) route is also a fun little jam packed Sun Peaks experience! It is going to wind you all the way up to the top of the Sunburst Express. From here you head back down to the start and finish line via the Valley View Trail which lives under some of the chair lifts. Views for days! Note - The new route is 17kms
