Three Shires Fell Race
The Three Shires Fell Race is a Category AL event hosted at Tilberthwaite Farm. The race covers a distance of 22 km (12.4 miles) and includes a total ascent of 1535 m (4003 ft). This event serves as a counter for the Lakeland Classics Trophy.
The course follows a route that starts and finishes at Tilberthwaite Farm, passing through several checkpoints including Lingmoor, Pike of Blisco, Three Shires Stone, Great Carrs, and Wetherlam. There are two flagged sections to guide runners out of the farm and back from the top of Tilberthwaite Gill to ensure the use of specific southern paths.
Participation is limited to 350 runners. Registration must be completed in advance, as there are no entries available on the day. The race is conducted under Fell Running Association (FRA) rules. Competitors are required to carry specific safety equipment, including a map, a compass, a whistle, full wet weather cover, a hat, and gloves. The use of GPS for navigation is not permitted.
Due to the limited space and narrow roads surrounding the venue at Tilberthwaite Farm, the organizer requests that participants car share whenever possible. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
