The Sussex Stride 2026
The Sussex Stride is a timed LDWA challenge covering 52 miles with approximately 7,000 ft of ascent and a maximum allowed time of 23 hours. The route starts and finishes at Plumpton College in Lewes and crosses countryside within the South Downs National Park. It passes through Offham, Lewes, Glynde, Firle, Alfriston, East Dean, Litlington, Norton, Rodmell and Falmer.
Navigation is part of the event: the route is not signposted and each entrant must carry the full route description. Organisers provide a route description in document form and a GPX file as support; the route description is the definitive guide. Maps covering the whole route (OS Landranger 198 and 199 or Explorer OL11 and OL25) should be carried in paper or electronic form, and electronic devices must have sufficient power.
There are seven staffed checkpoints on the route, each offering food and drink. A light meal is provided mid-event and a breakfast is available at the finish; vegetarian options are offered. Changing rooms, showers and sleeping facilities are available at the finish and luggage may be left at the hall at the entrant's risk. Free parking is available at the college.
Entry is open to people aged 18 or older. Membership of the LDWA is not required. Entrants must carry a mug and a torch or headtorch. All checkpoints must be visited in the correct order and entrants must comply with checkpoint opening and closing times. The event is an official qualifier for LDWA Jurassic Hundred 2027.
