THE PRIORY - 100KM ULTRA
Get ready for one of the UK’s most breathtaking ultra events! The Northumberland Ultra Trail takes runners on an unforgettable journey along the spectacular Northumberland coastline — starting near Bamburgh Castle and finishing at the majestic Tynemouth Priory.
You’ll pass iconic landmarks including Beadnell Harbour, Dunstanburgh Castle, Craster Village, and Warkworth Castle, with every mile steeped in Northumberland’s rich history and coastal beauty. The final stretch takes you through Seaton Sluice, Whitley Bay, and Cullercoats, before an epic finish through the Gates of Tynemouth Priory — a moment you’ll never forget.
This waymarked event is fully supported, featuring:
- 6 well-stocked feed stations
- Extensive medical cover
- Marshals at key points along the route

Route
This is an A-B event, so runners must make their own way to the start. There is a bag drop available at registration and all bags will be taken to the finish.
Feed Stations
6 well-stocked feed stations at Low Newton, Boulmer, Warkworth Beach, Druridge Bay, Newbiggin-by-the-Sea & Blyth (new location!) Feed stations will include VOOM Bars, VOOM Hydration, fruit, sweets, chocolate and savoury snacks.
Mandatory Kit List
Runners must carry a backpack with:
- Water/fluids
- Charged mobile phone with emergency contacts (ICE)
- Food/gels
- Headtorch (if finishing after 9pm)
- Lightweight jacket
Start Times
- 6:00-6:30am (runners slower than 15 hours)
- 7:00-7:30am (runners quicker than 15 hours)
Cut Off Times
There is a cut off time of 24 hours for the event.
Timing
All runners will be tracked throughout and can be dot watched by loved ones.
