About the Rail Trail:
The Marcia H. Cloninger Rail-Trail, known locally as the Lincolnton Rail-Trail, is a 1.5-mile paved trail, popular with walkers, joggers, bikers, and parents with strollers. The trail is maintained by the City of Lincolnton.
About the Pirate:
The legend of Jean Lafitte (Lorenzo Ferrer) possibly living and dying in Lincoln County, North Carolina, adds a unique historical flavor to this event, with Ferrer buried at Saint Luke's Episcopal Church.
