The Hilly Helmet Challenge X
The Hilly Helmet Challenge returns to Westbury's Leighton Recreation Centre for 2026, taking place on Wednesday 5th August with the run starting in the evening promptly at 7pm.
It's been an amazing ride and we're excited to be in our 10th year as we once again aim to raise valuable funds for the charity Brain Tumour Support. Like many other charities, they receive no government funding to aid the support they offer, so your support for this event really does help make a difference. As usual, 100% of your entry fee is received by the charity, with event costs being picked up by generous event partners. Please visit their website to see the range of services they provide at www.braintumoursupport.co.uk
In addition to supporting the charity, the event has won awards in 2019, 2022 & 2024 for the event from Racecheck based on participants ratings. Every participant will receive one of our famous pottery mementos. Prizes are awarded to the first male and female finishers and for the best decorated helmet worn on the night. It's 4 miles with uphill and downhill sections.
In previous years, Leighton Recreation Centre has made their facilities available, and friends at Westbury Cricket Club have provided refreshments and a BBQ.
Please note that due to the nature of the course it is unsuitable for wheelchairs. Additionally, for safety reasons, runners are not permitted to run with dogs, as some trails are narrow and may become slippery in wet weather.
An Association of Running Clubs Race Permit will be in place for the event.
Entry fees are £19 for standard entry and £17 with a £2 discount for members of ARC and England Athletics Affiliated clubs. This will rise to £21 & £23 respectively for on the night entry.
