The Descent 2
The Descent 2 is a point-to-point road run from Baitings Reservoir to Sowerby Bridge. The route covers 10 km and is fully road based, following quiet upland roads and long, runnable descents designed for road shoes. The start elevation is 975 ft and the finish elevation is 252 ft, giving a net descent of approximately 723 ft (220 m). Runners can expect sweeping downhill sections and scenic views as the course drops from reservoir to town.
This event uses a finish area at Sowerby Bridge Cricket Club. Participants register at the finish location and are transported to the start at Baitings Reservoir for the return run to the finish. The route is fully marked and supported by event staff at key locations. The event includes first aid cover, cut-off times, and a requirement to carry mandatory kit appropriate to conditions.
All finishers receive a medal included in the entry fee. T shirts are not included unless pre ordered.

Event Day Schedule
- Registration: 18:00 – 18:50 (at Sowerby Bridge – finish location)
- Bus departs: 19:00 prompt
- Start: As soon as possible on arrival at Baitings Reservoir
- Presentations: 20:30 (or once all runners have finished)

All finishers will receive a medal. T-shirts are not included and must be pre-ordered.
Transport & Logistics
Participants will register at the finish location in Sowerby Bridge, be transported to the start at Baitings Reservoir, and run back down to the finish.
