The Bishop's Stortford Mitre 10k, 5k & 1K
Organised by The Bishop's Stortford High School and sponsored by Nockolds Solicitors, this community fundraising road race supports the Mitre Fund, a registered charity raising money for new school community sports facilities.
Races start and finish at Jobbers Wood sports ground and pavilion and follow a professionally measured circuit through country lanes to Much Hadham and back. The courses are chip timed and run on traffic-free roads through East Hertfordshire villages.
Distances:
- 10 km - professionally measured road circuit.
- 5 km - professionally measured road circuit.
- 1 km - a short fun race at Jobbers Wood for younger runners.
Participants receive a free finisher T-shirt with a new design each year or may choose to have a tree planted in their name. Organised warm-up, refreshments and free parking are provided. Trophies are awarded to the top three women and men, first over 40, 50 and 60 in each gender category, and the best running club team for 5k and 10k based on the fastest two women and two men from the same club.
Race packs are available for collection the day before at Jobbers Wood or on the event day at the venue. Volunteers and marshals can assist on site by contacting the organiser via the provided email address. Visit the organisation's website for the most recent information.
1K Mitre Race:
The 1K Mitre Race takes place at Jobbers Wood straight after the 10/5k races. It is free to enter on the day for Under 11's, with medals for all participants and certificates for the winners.
Race Pack Collection:
Race Packs will be available for collection on Saturday 4th July between 9am and 12 noon at Jobbers Wood, or from 8am at the event. Please arrive in plenty of time to collect your number on the day if you haven't done so already. Tea, coffee, soft drinks and pre-run snacks will be available from early.
Volunteering:
As an alternative to running, if you would like to join the Marvellous Mitre Marshals team or volunteer on site on the day, please contact the organiser via the e-mail address provided. It's a great event to be a part of, running or not!
