Thames Meander Summer
The Thames Meander Summer is a riverside race series organised by Hermes Running that uses the Thames Path towpath in Richmond. All routes start and finish at the Petersham & Ham Sea Scouts HQ, Douglas House Meadow, Richmond, TW10 7AH, and follow out and back courses along the river toward Barnes.
The event offers three distances with marked turnaround points and staffed check points. The course is described as a trail run on the Thames Path and is shared with members of the public, including cyclists. The organiser states the routes are flat and runnable, and that the course is well marked and marshalled throughout.
Check points are positioned along the route and are reported to be stocked with high energy foods, gels, drinks and electrolyte powders. Medical support is provided by KLP Medics, stationed at the Start/Finish (Check Point 1) and at Kew Gardens Car Park (Check Point 2).
Distances
Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
- 10 km: one out and back lap to Kew Gardens Car Park.
- Half marathon: one 13.1 mile out and back to opposite Barnes Sports Club.
- Marathon: two 13.1 mile out and back loops to Barnes turnaround.
This is a trail run so please understand that all three routes are as accurate as they can possibly be on this Thames Path trail, given that there are members of the public including some cyclists using this trail. The turnaround points at Kew Gardens CP2 (10km only) and at Barnes (opposite the Barnes Sports Club) for the half and marathon, will be very well marshalled. The three Check Points will also be well stocked with a selection of high energy foods, gels, drinks and electrolyte powders so you can keep well hydrated, and maintain your refuelling needs throughout the race.
