Tentsmuir Forest 8-hour Challenge 2026
The Tentsmuir Forest 8-hour Challenge is an eight-hour looped trail running event in Tentsmuir Forest on 24 October 2026, organised by NU Limits. Runners complete repeated laps of a measured trail circuit and aim to record as many full laps as possible within the event time limit.
The course is run entirely on trail paths around Tentsmuir Forest and includes about 20 ft of ascent per lap. A GPX file is provided with full route details. Race timing uses electronic wrist tags on velcro straps that log the start and finish of each lap and provide a lap count at the end.
Basecamp is marked on the event GPX map and includes two 6 x 3 metre gazebos for kit storage; the organiser does not accept liability for lost items. Spectators are permitted at Basecamp.
Mandatory kit includes at least 1500 ml fluid for the event with refill provision thereafter, 60 g to 90 g of carbohydrates per hour of running, clothing suitable for expected weather, dry clothes for after the event, and a mobile phone. The timing tag must not be covered, and runners are asked not to congregate at the start/finish to avoid false readings. Runners must check out at Basecamp to finalise results and return timing tags.
Parking at Tentsmuir is via a coin or card pay barrier with a £4 daily charge.
Refunds are available up to two months before the event. Transfers to another event within the same calendar year are permitted up to one month before. Participant place transfers are allowed up to one week before the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.

RACE TIMING SYSTEM
Our race timing system will use HuTags on velcro straps which can be worn on the wrist. These will record the start and finish time of each lap and provide a final lap count once runners have finished their race.
The tag should not be covered up as wet clothing can block the radio signal. Moreover, once runners have completed a lap, they must not congregate around the event start line. This ensures our timing system does not provide false readings and delivers accurate results.
Once runners finish the race, they must check out at event Basecamp.
