Steve Morris 5
The Steve Morris 5 is a chip-timed road race held in Desford on Sunday 28 June 2026, in memory of Steve Morris, founder of Desford Striders RC. The race covers a distance of 5 miles on an undulating road and pavement course. Entrants must be at least 16 years old. The event was limited to 698 entrants and is now full.
Entries were initially reserved for LRRL club members for the first seven days, after which non-LRRL entrants were permitted if places remained. Entry fees were £14 for LRRL club runners and £16 for unattached runners. Transfers and name changes were allowed through the event system between June 1 and June 23, 2026; refunds and deferrals were not permitted.
Logistics and Amenities:
- Parking: Car sharing is essential. Parking is provided at Caterpillar on Peckleton Lane, Desford LE9 9BZ, with a half-mile walk to race headquarters and a one-mile walk from the finish back to parking.
- Race Headquarters: Sport in Desford on Peckleton Lane.
- Refreshments: Ice Cream Van, Tea and Coffee Van available.
- Toilets/Changing: Available at race HQ, plus additional portaloos.
- Shop: Leicester Running Shop stall on-site.
- Chip Timed: Yes.
- Minimum Age: 16 years old.
- Maximum Entrants: 698.
- Entry Fees: £14 (LRRL club runner), £16 (unattached).
- Transfers/Name Changes: Allowed between June 1 and June 23, 2026, via EventEntry system.
- Refunds/Deferrals: Not permitted.
- Donation: A donation will be made to the 2026 Club Charity LOROS.
- Awards: Presentation at the finish line (weather permitting).
- Safety: Runners are responsible for assessing their own fitness and ensuring suitable clothing. Headphones, including bone conduction devices, are strictly prohibited for safety reasons and may lead to disqualification. Runners must keep to the left side of the road unless directed otherwise by marshals.
- Drinks stations: No drink station on the course; water is available at the finish.
