Sportspectrum Firecracker 5k Race for Research
Welcome to the 42nd Anniversary of the Sportspectrum Firecracker 5k Race for Research Run & Healthwalk.
5k Registration:
- $25 through April 30th
- $30 May 1st through July 3rd
- Race day $40.00
Note: Select "I do not need another race shirt" to save $5.00!
Kids 1/2 mile fun run:
- $15.00 through July 3rd
- $20.00 June 30th through race morning
All kids participating in the 1/2 mile fun run will be awarded a finishers medal.

- Date: Saturday, July 4th, 2026
- Start time: 5k - 8:00 a.m., Fun Run - 7:30 a.m.
Course Description:
The 5K (3.1 miles) will start and finish at Mall St. Vincent Parking Lot (directly behind Sears). The race will proceed through the historic South Highland Subdivision, one of Shreveport’s oldest & most beautiful neighborhoods. A scenic and challenging road race for runners, walkers, and sightseers.
Packet Pickup:
At Sportspectrum, 6970 Fern Avenue:
- Thursday, June 25th and Friday, June 26th - 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
- Saturday, June 27th - 9:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
- Sunday, June 28th - 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
- Monday, June 29th thru Friday, July 3rd - 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
- Race day at the race site from 6:00 a.m. - 7:45 a.m.
Race Day Registration & Check-In: Mall St. Vincent parking lot behind Sears, 6:00 a.m. — 7:45 a.m. Race day registration is $40.00. Early registration is recommended to guarantee a T-shirt.
Race Shirts: Participants can choose between a short sleeve tee or a tank top (adult sizes only for tank tops). All race shirts not picked up by the start of the race will be given to volunteers.
Awards & Prize Money:
- Overall Male & Female winners receive $500 each.
- 2nd Overall Male & Female winners receive $250 each.
- First 101 Men and First 100 Female Finishers awarded a 41st Anniversary Commemorative Mug.
- First 10 Male and Female finishers over 50 also receive a commemorative mug.
- $2500.00 in Prize Money.
- Beat the course record and win an additional $500!
Post Party:
Hot Dogs, Hamburgers, fresh fruit, cookies, Great Raft Beer, and ice cold water.
Policies:
Baby Joggers: Strollers, wagons, baby joggers, and any hand pushed or pulled vehicle will be allowed on the course at a walk pace capacity only. No in-line skates or roller skates allowed.
Refunds: 100% refund if canceled more than 30 days in advance. 50% refund if canceled between 30 days and two weeks prior to race day. No refunds less than two weeks before race day.
Race Entry Transfers: Allowed up to two weeks prior to race day for a $10.00 charge.
