Sourton Tors Fell Race 2026

Event Details
A traditional fell run just short of 5 km and ascending 276m to Sourton Tors. Starting from the moor close to Sourton Village Hall, heading up to Sourton Tors and looping back around the "Lake" valley and returning to Sourton Village Hall. There are compulsory checkpoints near the Ice Works, the Trig Point at Sourton Tors, the descent to Lake Moorgate, and the "Pit south west of the tors." The route is entirely off-road with most on the open moorland of Dartmoor. Whilst providing a challenge, it is within the capabilities of most runners. After the race, tea, coffee, and cakes will be for sale (cash only), or you can enjoy a drink and a meal in the Highwayman Inn.
Race Headquarters & Parking
Race Headquarters is at the Sourton Village Hall, on the A386 at Sourton (near Okehampton). The start is from the moorgate & finish is next to Race HQ. Parking will be available in the farmers field behind the Highwayman Inn – marshals will direct vehicles. Please do not park next to the village hall.
Prizes & Entry Fees
Prizes for the first male and female and age categories will be awarded. No mementoes are provided, which is reflected in the low entry fee.
- Seniors: £7.00 for FRA members, £7.50 for non-FRA runners.
- On the Day Entries: £8.00 for FRA members, £10.00 for non-FRA runners.
- Juniors: £1 for all juniors (entry on the day).
Rules & Navigation
Held under the rules of the Fell Runners Association, race classification AS. Self-navigation is required by all runners, with some course markers. Runners unfamiliar with the course should carry a map and compass and know how to use them. If the weather is poor, a whistle, raincoat, and hat are advisable.
Juniors
Minimum age for juniors is 8, with parental permission required on the entry form. Juniors over 13 can race in the senior race. All ages under 13 will race at 10:15 AM with distances of either 2 km (under 11) or 3 km (under 13), running up the hill and back again on a marked route.
