What is Sokolský běh republiky
We are an annual celebration of the founding of Czechoslovakia, and on October 28th, we celebrate with movement! The first year saw the light of day in 2019 and was an instant success. Today, we dare to say that the event has become a modern Sokol tradition, growing every year to more locations in the Czech Republic and among expatriate communities worldwide. Join us and celebrate the founding of the republic with movement, cheers on October 28th!
Join the celebration with movement
Anyone who wants to be part of the Sokolský běh republiky can participate. It is necessary to register at www.behrepublikyid.cz, fill in the required information, and pay the registration fee. In the registration system, you will also find a list of locations where the run will take place, and you can choose your location accordingly. The rules of the run can be found here.
Inspiration from history
In the autumn of 1919, on the occasion of the first anniversary of the founding of the Czechoslovak Republic, the Sokol community prepared an unprecedented sporting event that allowed the participation of as many Sokol members as possible, the so-called 'rozestavný běh' on October 28th. Inspired by history, a new project, Sokolský běh republiky, was created a hundred years later, with a celebration of October 28, 1918, in the form of a run organized throughout the republic.
